Types of Street Photography

Street

Street photography entails different faces. It assumes numerous shapes and silhouettes. It is beautiful, thrilling, ugly, funny, rude, and many other things. Depending on the photographer’s technique, it can be intrusive, rude, artistic, or a blend of these characteristics.

The suggested listing below, though not comprehensive, gives you quick description of the most used styles. These types of street photography are not mutually exclusive. Nevertheless, the following are the most popular street photographers:

Standard

An obtrusive photographer does not interfere with their object’s personal space. In many cases, they appear to be several steps back. Unlike Intrusive Photography, Unobtrusive Photography captures more of the surroundings and the scene.

Man

Since the unobtrusive photographer stands a little further to go unnoticed, which draws minimal attention. Unobtrusive pictures are more documentary and photojournalistic since the subjects are oblivious of the photographer’s presence. Such pictures are realistic.

Intrusive

Unlike the seemingly timid unobtrusive photographer, an intrusive photographer is more aggressive. They intrude their subjects and join the mix. They are rather crazy and a little brave.

Unlike the Obtrusive Photography, Intrusive Photography is less documented since the photographer manipulates the subject.

Mostly, subjects show surprised expressions since the photographer intrudes them as they go about their daily activities. An intrusive photographer must be aware of their surroundings. They capture amazing pictures with unique and priceless expressions.

Raw

A Raw Street Photographer is unethical and lacks moral boundaries. The interpretation of raw street photographs is up to the viewer. A raw photographer has a dull regard for the subject’s feelings.

Fine Art

A Fine Art Photographer creates photos according to an artist’s vision. At times, an image captured in a Street Photography Style can feel like a work of art. Essentially, a fine art photograph is a representation of a real scene, focusing on the artistic, pleasing captures.

Fine Art photographs have an interesting combination of contrast, shadows, and light since they show various forms and shapes. Fine art shots are an ideal choice for your wall.

Geometric

A Geometric Street Photographer focuses on forms and shapes to create fine art. Geometric Street Photographs allude to the architecture and give a hint of time and location.

Travel photo

Geometric patterns can be spotted in structures, doors, lines, stairs, trees, and anything architectural. The Geometric Photographer spends substantial time setting up their shot and human subjects are not the focus.

Smart

Smart photography is renowned to be among the hardest type of photography. For a photographer to take a smart photo he or she must know the camera in use very well. In addition, you have to be constantly prepared since the photo is taken in a glimpse of an eye. Prolific street photographers manage to capture remarkable moments that at the time of the occurrence seemed invisible to other people.

There you are! Hopefully, you can now determine where any street photograph fits in the grand scheme of things.
